Facebook has added a ear in Review feature to its desktop website which automatically selects a range of highlights from 2012 and presents them in a short timeline.

The memoir features what Facebook calls the "20 biggest moments from the year" which include all sorts of different posts, from life events to popular stories.

As the highlights are automatically generated, there is no real consistency as to what appears. This means that an updated cover photo might make the cut, despite it being a random photo from the Internet (as it does in my own review).

At the same time, (again from my experience), it does include an array of significant moments and posts.

In addition, the top of the review contains a mural of photos which change every few seconds. Just below is a count of the number of friends the user has added in 2012, and how many pages the user has liked. All of these have small thumbnails.

In true Facebook spirit, there are a couple of Share buttons on the page as well.

Users can access the feature by heading to their profile page, and clicking the link, titled See your 2012 Year in Review, just below the right-hand side of their timeline cover photo.

It appears that the new addition cannot be viewed on the mobile version of Facebook.
