If you thought you'd spend part of today signing up to attend this year's Google I/O, think again.

Registration for Google I/O, the company's major annual developer conference, was supposed to open today, but Google announced at the 11th hour that it's being pushed back to next Tuesday, April 15.

The company announced the change on its Google Developers page on Google+.

Registration is now set to run for four days: April 15-18.

The company also noted that registering to attend the conference doesn't necessarily mean that you're going. It's a game of chance this year.

"We're still working to make the registration process even easier for you, and it will now be open four days starting next week," Google's developers team reported. "After the registration window closes, applicants will randomly be selected and we'll send ticket purchase confirmation emails shortly thereafter."

Google I/O is slated to be held June 25-26 in San Francisco.

The conference brings together thousands of developers and members of the media from all over the world.

Google I/O tends to focus its attention on the Android platform, Chrome, search, Maps and Google Glass. Two years ago, Google's Glass team stole the show when it had skydivers, wearing the computerized eyeglasses, land on the roof of the conference center and then jump on bikes and ride into the auditorium where the keynotes were being held.
