Apple has announced its worldwide developers conference (WWDC) will take place on 10-14 June 2013 in San Francisco where it is expected to debut iOS 7 and OS X 10.9.
As the name suggests, WWDC is aimed at developers but is normally used to announce new software and even hardware including Macs. Tickets for this year's event go on sale tomorrow at 10am PDT priced at $1,599. See also: Apple sees first slide in profits in a decade.
Apple said: "Get an in-depth look at what's next in iOS and OS X, and learn how to take your apps to the next level."
We should get to see what Apple has cooked up in terms of iOS 7 and OS X 10.9, at the least. Although the event will be software focused, it's possible Apple could unveil the iPhone 6, iPad 5 or maybe a budget version of the iPhone made of plastic. See also: Apple teases 'new product categories'.
It seems unlikely since Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, said during the firm's recent earnings call: "Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software and services we can't wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014,"
Some are suggesting, based on the square design of this year's WWDC logo, that we'll be hearing about Apple's fabled iTV. There's also been plenty of rumours around an iWatch so you never know what the iPhone maker will pull out of the bag.
"We look forward to gathering at WWDC 2013 with the incredible community of iOS and OS X developers," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
"Our developers have had the most prolific and profitable year ever, and we're excited to show them the latest advances in software technologies and developer tools to help them create innovative new apps. We can't wait to get new versions of iOS and OS X into their hands at WWDC."
