Google is thought to be launching a music service, although it's not clear whether it will be a streaming or download service.

According to TechCrunch, one source said the service will be called Google Audio.

However, apart from the name, there very few details about the service available. It is thought Google is working with the major record labels on the service, which will be available in the USA. Although, whether it will be available in other countries will remain to be seen.

TechCrunch also said the service would be unlike Google's music download service currently available in China. Launched in 2008, the service lets web users download music for free in a bid to compete with Baidu - the country's biggest search engine.
