By now, you've surely heard the news. An icon of the tech community, stepping down from the post that he's held for more than a decade, leaving the institution he helped found. I'm not sure if anything will ever be the same agai--what? I'm talking about Slashdot's CmdrTaco; who are you talking about?

By now, you've surely heard the news. An icon of the tech community, stepping down from the post that he's held for more than a decade, leaving the institution he helped found. Oh, right! Steve Jobs! With the Apple CEO stepping down, it seemed only fitting that we assemble a collection of tidbits from around the Web about the legendary tech maven. The remainders for Thursday, August 25, 2011 would like you to fasten your seat belts--it's going to be a bumpy night.

Steve Jobs Biography Will Include Resignation, Launch on Schedule (PCMag.com)

Well, I think we all know why Steve Jobs's forthcoming biography was bumped up to November now, huh? According to publisher Simon & Schuster, the book will contain an account of the announcement, as told by Jobs. And here I thought he just woke up Wednesday morning, discovered he had no clean black turtlenecks to wear, and that was that.

Steve Jobs's Patents (New York Times)

Did you know Steve Jobs has 313 patents to his name? Did you know that the ring-necked pheasant is the state bird of South Dakota? Admittedly, the first is a little more relevant. Still, it's worth checking out this interactive chart of Steve Jobs's patents over at the Times, if for no other reason than to admire the numerous line drawings of gripping inventions like the "white electronic device" and "packaging."

Steve Jobs's Best Quotes (Wall Street Journal)

Really, is there anybody as quotable as Steve Jobs? For my money, the man's on even footing with Oscar Wilde and Mark Twain. Who could forget humdingers like "The only problem with Microsoft is they just have no taste" and "We made the buttons on the screen look so good you'll want to lick them"? Sadly, my favorite Jobs quote, from his role in Superman II, did not make the list. (In case you're wondering, it was "Kneel before Jobs!")
